Grave slab with sculpture of warrior with hunting dog at his feet, helmet, sword and shield with tower and wyvern design (winged creature with the head of a dragon and the body of a serpent), c. 15th century, in the medieval abbey church at Iona Abbey and Nunnery, on the island of Iona, Inner Hebrides, Scotland. Iona abbey was founded by the Celtic monk St Columba in 563 AD. A stone abbey was begun c. 800 AD and the Benedictine monastery and Augustinian nunnery were built in the 13th century. St Aidan was a monk here in the 7th century and the Book of Kells produced here. Picture by Manuel Cohen
