Hagia Sophia, Istanbul, Turkey
Interior of Hagia Sophia, or Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque, built under emperor Justinian I as a Byzantine church 360-537 AD, cathedral until 1453, then a mosque, museum and mosque again since 2020, in Fatih, Istanbul, Turkey. The central dome is flanked by semi-domes, with marble columns, mosaics and 19th century medallions with calligraphy. The historic centre of Istanbul is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
