Hagia Sophia, Istanbul, Turkey
Tourists visiting Hagia Sophia, or Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque, built under emperor Justinian I as a Byzantine church 360-537 AD, cathedral until 1453, then a mosque, museum and mosque again since 2020, in Fatih, Istanbul, Turkey. On the wall is the Deesis mosaic, c. 1261, with Christ Pantocrator with the Virgin and St John the Baptist. The historic centre of Istanbul is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
