Hathor capital, Temple of Satet, Elephantine island, Egypt
Hathor capital, goddess of the sky and fertility, in the broad hall at the Temple of Satet, founded c. 3200 BC and rebuilt under queen Hatshepsut in the 18th dynasty, at Abu, on Elephantine island in the river Nile, at Aswan, Egypt. The island was important in the ivory trade from c. 3, 000 BC during the 1st dynasty, and was a defensive site above the First Cataract of the Nile at the border between Egypt and Nubia.
