Heroon, Knidos, Mugla, Turkey
Room 4 or Heroon, a Roman monument to a hero, 1 of 7 rooms on the eastern side of Harbour Street, originally a shop, built Late Classical - Early Hellenistic period, and altered by the Romans 2nd century AD, at Knidos, Mugla, Caria, Turkey. The room has Roman marble walls and flooring and corinthian columns at the entrance. Knidos was an ancient Dorian Greek Hellenistic city which was also settled by the Persians, Romans and was Byzantine from 5th century. Picture by Manuel Cohen
