House 5, with box beds and storage cells, at Skara Brae, a Neolithic village occupied 3180-2500 BC consisting of 9 stone houses and a workshop, linked by passages, at Skaill beach on the Bay of Skaill, on Mainland, Orkney, Scotland. House 5 has several storage cells including one accessible only from crawling under the dresser, possibly used for hiding precious items or for rituals. In the distance is Skaill House, a mansion built in 1620 by George Graham, bishop of Orkney, and the 7th laird of Breckness excavated Skara Brae in 1850. The house remains in the family, open to visitors to Skara Brae. Skara Brae is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Picture by Manuel Cohen
