Interior, Gol stave church, Oslo, Norway
Interior of Gol stave church, or Gol stavkyrkje, with wooden nave with columns and arches, and narrow choir with apse decorated with wall paintings, built 1157-1216 at Gol, Buskerud, Hallingdal, then restored and rebuilt at Bygdoy, Oslo in 1884, at the Norwegian Museum of Cultural History, or Norsk Folkemuseum, an open-air history museum in Oslo, Ostlandet, Norway. Due for demolition in 1880, the church was bought by the Society for the Preservation of Ancient Norwegian Monuments and king Oscar II paid for its rebuilding in the museum. Picture by Manuel Cohen
