Jamb plank, National Museum of Norway, Oslo, Norway
Jamb plank from a door frame in carved wood with interlaced dragons, late 12th century, detail, from Oye stave church, a medieval wooden church at Oye, Vang, Innlander, Norway, in the National Museum of Norway or Nasjonalmuseet, Oslo, Norway. The design represents the struggle between good and evil. The stave church was rebuilt in 1747, and again in the 1950s, although parts of the original church were found buried under the floor.
