Jardin des Vestiges - Marseille
Roman port of 1st - 4th century AD, in the Jardin des Vestiges, an archaeological garden with ruins of the ancient port of Marseille, in the 1st arrondissement of Marseille, Provence, France. An ancient Hellenic Greek port was founded here in the 6th century BC, as part of the city of Massalia. There are also city walls, towers and a gateway. Objects excavated here are displayed in the Marseille History Museum, seen here. The garden is listed as historic monument. Picture by Manuel Cohen
