Joannis Corneloup Temple, Musee de la Franc-Maconnerie

Knotted cable tow ropes, triangles and hourglass, masonic symbols, architectural detail from Temple 4, or Joannis Corneloup Temple, designed 1924 by Albert Verner, listed as a historic monument, with art nouveau ceiling painted by Alphonse Mucha, in the Musee de la Franc-Maconnerie, or Museum of Freemasonry, opened 1889 in the Hotel du Grand Orient de France, the oldest freemasonic organisation in Europe, on the Rue Cadet in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, France. Joannis Corneloup, 1888-1978, was an engineer and Grand Commander of the Grand College of Rites. The museum was renovated and reopened in 2010 and presents the history of freemasonry in France, with extensive archives. Picture by Manuel Cohen
