Khachkar, St Gayane Monastery, Monastery of Etchmiadzin, Vagharshapat, Armenia

Khachkar or cross-stone at St Gayane Monastery, built 630-641 AD by the Catholicos, on the original mausoleum-church built 301 AD by St Gregory the Illuminator, on the site of the martyrdom of abbess Gayane, expanded 17th century, at the complex of the Monastery of Etchmiadzin, home of the Armenian Apostolic Church, at Vagharshapat or Etchmiadzin, Armavir, Armenia. The inscription reads that the cross was placed here by a christian family, Ksolos Petrosian, in memory of the soul of pity. The site is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
