Lord Jean de Castelpers, gisant effigy sculpture of deceased knight from tomb, 13th century, in the Chateau Comtal, fortress of the viscounts of Carcassonne, built early 12th century and expanded 1240-50, in the Citadel of Carcassonne, a fortress built in the Roman then medieval period and restored by Eugene Viollet-le-Duc 1853-79, Aude, Occitanie, France. The fortified city has 2 outer walls defended by 52 towers and barbicans, and a drawbridge across a moat leads to the castle keep. It is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
