Lamentation, detail, painting, 1510-25, by an unknown Flemish artist, from the altarpiece of the Mosteiro de Celas, in the Museu Nacional de Machado de Castro, Coimbra, Portugal. The free market for artwork in Bruges and Antwerp encouraged the production of en masse quality painting. The museum was opened in 1913 and renovated 2004-2012.
