Life of St Julian the Hospitaller stained glass

A boatman invites Julian to board a small boat where his wife already sits. Julian is distancing himself from his crime and beginning a new life of repentance. Section of the embarkation of Julian and his wife, 1215-25, from the Life of St Julian the Hospitaller window in the chapel of St Julian in the ambulatory of Chartres Cathedral, Eure-et-Loir, France. Chartres cathedral was built 1194-1250 and is a fine example of Gothic architecture. Most of its windows date from 1205-40 although a few earlier 12th century examples are also intact.
