Life of St Julian the Hospitaller stained glass
Julian has swapped his sword for a pilgrim's staff. He leaves to live a life of seclusion, in search of God's pardon. But his wife follows him with her own staff, to share in his sorrow. Chartres cathedral was built 1194-1250 and is a fine example of Gothic architecture. Most of its windows date from 1205-40 although a few earlier 12th century examples are also intact.
