Left-right, the Semaphore, built 1862, the Vieille Tour or Old Tower, part of the Chapelle Saint-Pierre, where fires were lit to warn ships, the Phare de Penmarc'h, commissioned 1835 at 40m high, and the Phare d'Eckmuhl or Eckmuhl Lighthouse, also known as Point Penmarc'h Lighthouse or Saint-Pierre Lighthouse, built 1835 at 60m high, at Saint-Pierre on the Pointe de Penmarc'h, Finistere, Brittany, France. Three small fishing ports developed in this area, but despite the building of a breakwater, sea access remained perilous. Picture by Manuel Cohen
