Water basin with sculpted lions, possibly used for cult rituals, near the Great Temple or Temple 1, in the Lower City, Hattusa archaeological site, near Bogazkale, Corum, Anatolia, Turkey. Hattusa was the capital of the Hittite empire, built in the late Bronze Age from c. 1650 BC, on an older Chalcolithic settlement founded 6th millennium BC.
