La Loggia della Signoria, or Loggia dei Lanzi, built 1376-82 by Benci di Cione and Simone di Francesco Talenti to hold public ceremonies, in Florence, Tuscany, Italy. On the left is Perseus holding the head of Medusa, Mannerist, by Benvenuto Cellini and on the right, the Medici lions, originally from the Villa Medici, one is Roman and the other by Flaminio Vacca, 1598. The loggia is a building adjacent to the Uffizi Gallery on the Piazza della Signoria, with a wide arcade with sculptures between the columns. The historic centre of Florence is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Picture by Manuel Cohen
