The main street in Prague castle, 10th - 14th centuries, and St George's Basilica Tower in the distance, founded by Vratislaus I of Bohemia in 920 and rebuilt 1142, Prague, Czech Republic. Prague Castle is the largest ancient castle in the world. The first castle was built here in the 9th century and over the years the kings of Bohemia, Holy Roman emperors, and presidents of Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic have had their offices here. The famous Slovenian architect Josip Plecnik carried out extensive renovations in the First Republic (1918-1938). The historic centre of Prague was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992.
