Medina, Chefchaouen, Morocco
Studded wooden door, entrance to a house in a narrow street entirely painted blue in the medina or old town of Chefchaouen in the Rif mountains of North West Morocco. Chefchaouen was founded in 1471 by Moulay Ali Ben Moussa Ben Rashid El Alami to house the muslims expelled from Andalusia. It is famous for its blue painted houses, originated by the Jewish community, and is listed by UNESCO under the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Picture by Manuel Cohen
