Mosaic, Archbishop's Chapel, Archbishop's Palace, Ravenna
Chi Rho monogram in blue medallion supported by 4 angels, and 4 evangelist symbols, Byzantine mosaic, 6th century, on the cupola of the Capella Arcivescovile, or Archbishop's Chapel, a private oratory for Trinitarian bishops, built early 6th century under archbishop Peter II, on the first floor of the Palazzo Arcivescovile or Archbishop's Palace, now the Archiepiscopal Museum, in Ravenna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy. On the intrados of the arches are mosaic medallion portraits of martyrs and apostles. The building is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Picture by Manuel Cohen
