Palace of Theodoric, royal residence of Theodoric the Great, 6th century Byzantine mosaic, detail, on the south lateral wall of the nave of the Basilica of Sant'Apollinare Nuovo, built early 6th century under king Theodoric the Great and rededicated to St Apollinaris in 856 AD, in Ravenna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy. This mosaic originally included portraits of Theodoric and his court, which were removed and replaced with curtains in the 6th century after his death.
