Mosaic, Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, Ravenna, Italy
Good Shepherd, with Christ with a flock of sheep, holding cross, mosaic above the north entrance, in the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, built 425-450 AD in the late Antique Roman period in Byzantine style, a chapel or oratory beside the narthex of Santa Croce, in Ravenna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy. Commissioned as a mausoleum by empress Galla Placidia, daughter of Theodosius I, she actually died and was buried in Rome. The building is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
