Odeillo Solar Furnace, Font-Romeu-Odeillo-Via
Four Solaire d'Odeillo or Odeillo Solar Furnace, built 1962-68 by Henri Vicariot and commissioned 1969, in Font-Romeu-Odeillo-Via, Pyrenees-Orientales, France. This is the largest solar furnace in the world, with 63 heliostats, producing 1 megawatt. It is a double-reflection solar furnace with heliostat and concentrator focusing sun rays onto a focal point, creating temperatures of 2000-3500C. It is listed as a historic monument.
