Ohrid, North Macedonia
Ohrid, a city on Lake Ohrid in North Macedonia, with the Church of Holy Mother of God Peribleptos, built 1295, on top of the hill. The city was founded by the Phoenicians and thrived in the classical age, then settled by Byzantines, Slavs and Ottomans. The city and lake are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
