Painted column, Heret-Ib, Karnak Temple, Thebes
Polychrome decoration in the Heret-Ib, a large hall with 32 tent-pole columns, at the Akh-Menou or Festival Hall, built by Thutmose III, 1479-25 BC, 18th dynasty, used for jubilee celebrations and the Opet festival, to the east of the processional way, at the Karnak Temple Complex, Karnak, Thebes, Luxor, Egypt. The site was developed c. 2055 BC - 100 AD, from the Middle Kingdom to the Ptolemaic Kingdom and most of the buildings date to the New Kingdom, dedicated to the Theban Triad of Amun, Mut and Khonsu.
