Painted hieroglyph, Postern gate, Hattusa, Anatolia, Turkey

Wall painting on a stone in the postern gate, a 71m long underground tunnel lined with limestone blocks, in the rampart of Yerkapi, an embankment 250x80x15m in size, topped with city walls and Sphinx Gate, at Hattusa archaeological site, near Bogazkale, Corum, Anatolia, Turkey. These hieroglyphs, discovered in 2022, are signatures of the builders of the postern gate, in a pictorial script used in ancient Anatolia. Hattusa was the capital of the Hittite empire, built in the late Bronze Age from c. 1650 BC, on an older Chalcolithic settlement founded 6th millennium BC.
