Painted medallion, ceiling of the Emperor library
Minerva between Apollo and Mercury, 1814, Anne-Louis Girodet de Roussy-Trioson (1767-1824), central medallion of the ceiling of the Emperor Library, Castle of Compiegne, Oise, France. The castle was built in the 18th century in neoclassical style as the Royal residence for the French King Louis XV. It was destroyed during the French Revolution and later restored at the begining of 19th century by Napoleon in First French Emperor style with Louis-Martin Berthault as main architect.
