Le Moulin Rouge, before the works carried out by the city of Paris, oil painting on canvas, 1898, by Ernest Marche, 1864-1932, in the Chateau-Musee de Nemours, in Nemours, Seine-et-Marne, Ile-de-France, France. This mill beside a lily pond was located in Moncourt-Fromonville in the Pays de Nemours and was used to grind the grain of the Larchant farmers, before being converted to a sawmill. The Chateau de Nemours was a feudal castle built from 12th century with central keep and 4 towers, and is listed as a historic monument. Picture by Manuel Cohen
