La Toilette Intime, oil painting on canvas, early 18th century, by follower of Antoine Watteau, in the Musee du Nouveau Monde, or New World Museum, opened 1982 in the Hotel Fleuriau, an 18th century mansion home to merchant Aime-Benjamin Fleuriau, 1707-1877, in La Rochelle, Charente-Maritime, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France. The painting depicts a woman attended by her black maid, who presents her with a sponge and water for intimate washing in the morning.
