Palais du Pape Gelase, Abbaye de Cluny, Cluny
Palace of Pope Gelasius, or Palais du Pape Gelase, built 1300-30 in Gothic style and renovated 1873 by Charles-Jean Laisne, at Cluny Abbey or Abbaye de Cluny, a Romanesque Benedictine monastery founded 910 by duke William I of Aquitaine, in Cluny, Saone et Loire, Bourgogne-Franche-Comte, France. Until the 12th century Cluny abbey was the motherhouse for 1, 100 priories and over 10, 000 monks around Europe. The abbey is listed as a historic monument. Picture by Manuel Cohen
