Parthenon, a Classical Greek temple built 447-432 BC dedicated to the goddess Athena, designed by Ictinos and Callicrates, with sculptural decorated by Phidias, on the Acropolis at Athens, Greece. The Acropolis of Athens is an ancient citadel site raised above the city, developed by Pericles in the 5th century BC, with the addition of the Parthenon, Propylaia, Erechtheion and Temple of Athena Nike.
