Patio 1, Yagul, Oaxaca, Mexico

Patio 1, a large open area beside the Palace of the Six Patios, with 2 underground tombs, at Yagul, a Zapotec city first occupied from 500 BC, expanded 500-70 AD and again 1250-1521 AD, in the Tlacolula Valley, in Oaxaca, Mexico. The patio is surrounded on 3 sides by walls with square slabs below and rounded stones above, which would have been decorated with stucco, paintings and friezes.
