Picture stone from before the Viking age, with (top-bottom), sun, 2 discs representing sunrise and sunset, incised world-tree on horizontal dividing line between heavens and underworld, night-ship rowed beneath the world tree, to greet setting sun and transports it to dawn, in the Gotland Museum, founded 1875 by the Friends of Gotland's Antiquity Society, in Visby, on the island of Gotland, Sweden. At the bottom are polishing grooves or grinding grooves, a later addition for sharpening blades, or possibly with an astronomical explanation. Picture by Manuel Cohen
