Pieta statue, Church of St Francis of Assisi
Pieta, marble sculpture by Nino Geraci, 1900-80, in the Church of St Francis of Assisi, or Chiesa di San Francesco d'Assisi, built in the 13th century in Gothic and Sicilian Baroque style, in Palermo, Sicily, Italy. The plinth of the sculpture carries a dedication to Giacomo Marcello, mayor of Palermo, in 1974 on the 350th anniversary of the consecration of the city.
