Commemorative plaque marking the incarceration of Lamartine's father in the former Couvent des Ursulines, built 1675-80, which was a prison during the French Revolution, in Macon, Saone-et-Loire, Bourgogne-Franche-Comte, France. Lamartine's father, the Chevalier de Pratz, was imprisoned for his royalist views, and Lamartine's mother would bring him here to the convent attic to visit his father. Picture by Manuel Cohen
