Portrait of King Johna V or Joao V, 1689-1750, known as John the Magnanimous or Joao Magnanimo and the Portuguese Sun King or Rei-Sol Portugues, in the Great Room of Acts, or Sala dos Capelos, or Red Room, decorated in the 17th century by master builder Antonio Tavares and reworked in the 18th century, at the University of Coimbra in the royal palace or Paco Real, Coimbra, Portugal. The University of Coimbra was first founded in 1290 and moved to Coimbra in 1308 and to the royal palace in 1537. The buildings are listed as a historic monument and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
