Portrait of Marie-Jeanne Grellier with her black nurse, oil painting on canvas, early 18th century, by unknown artist, in the Musee du Nouveau Monde, or New World Museum, opened 1982 in the Hotel Fleuriau, an 18th century mansion home to merchant Aime-Benjamin Fleuriau, 1707-1877, in La Rochelle, Charente-Maritime, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France. The Grelliers were plantation owners in the Dominican Republic. The girl is finely dressed in a red dress with white lace apron, holding a flower and accepting fruit offered by her servant.
