Pylon, Temple of Horus, Edfu, Egypt
Pylon, built 1st century BC under Ptolemy XII Neos Dionysos, the main entrance to the Edfu Temple, dedicated to the god Horus, Ptolemaic, built 237-57 BC, at Edfu, Aswan Governorate, Upper Egypt. Inside the pylon towers are 4 storeys of rooms, and the slots in the facade were used for flagpoles. The Edfu temples are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Picture by Manuel Cohen
