Queen's Cabinet, Chateau de Chambord, Loire Valley, France

Queen's Cabinet, used in the 17th century by Maria Theresa of Austria, wife of Louis XIV, for reading, painting and meetings, in the Chateau de Chambord, designed by Domenico da Cortona and built 1519-47 in French Renaissance style under King Francois I, at Chambord, Loir-et-Cher, France. The decor dates from late 18th and early 19th centuries when the room was the study of the marquis de Polignac and the dining room for the duchess of Berry. The largest of the Loire Valley chateaux, Chambord has a central keep with 4 bastion towers on the corners, a moat and an elaborate decorative roofline.
