Statue of Ramon Llull, 1232-1315, philosopher, logician, Franciscan tertiary and Majorcan writer, by D Jaime Blanquer on the main altarpiece, 1739, in the Basilica Church of St Francis, Palma de Mallorca, Majorca, Balearic Islands, Spain. The monastery was founded in 1278 under King James II of Majorca, and the church was begun in 1384 and added to from 1445 to 1670, with a blend of Gothic and Renaissance styles.
