Meeting of the storm or weather god Teshub (left) and the sun goddess Hebat (right), relief sculpture in Chamber A, 13th century BC, at Yazilikaya, an ancient Bronze Age Hittite rock sanctuary, founded 16th century BC, near the site of Hattusa, Corum, Anatolia, Turkey. Teshub stands on 2 mountain gods and carries a mace, and Hebat wears pleated skirt and headdress, standing on a cat on 4 mountains, followed by a bull. The site comprises Chamber A, Chamber B and originally, a large temple complex with entrance gate, court and halls. Hattusa was the capital of the Hittite empire, built in the late Bronze Age from c. 1650 BC, and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Picture by Manuel Cohen
