Ptolemy XII, ruled 80-58 BC, holding a mace, and Horus (left), relief, on the Pylon, built 1st century BC under Ptolemy XII Neos Dionysos, the main entrance to the Edfu Temple, dedicated to the god Horus, Ptolemaic, built 237-57 BC, at Edfu, Aswan Governorate, Upper Egypt. Inside the pylon towers are 4 storeys of rooms, and the slots in the facade were used for flagpoles. The Edfu temples are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Picture by Manuel Cohen
