Reliquary, Swedish History Museum, Stockholm, Sweden
Reliquary of St Elizabeth, or Elisabethrelikvariet, a gold reliquary said to contain the head of St Elizabeth of Hungary, agate bowl 4th - 7th century with 11th century gold and jewels and 13th century base, in the Swedish History Museum, a history and archaeology museum founded 1866, in Stockholm, Sweden. The reliquary arrived in Sweden as loot taken from the Marienberg Fortress in Wurzburg in the 30 Years War, 1618-1648. Before the burial of St Elizabeth in 1236, Emperor Frederick II had the bowl remodeled as a reliquary of the saint's head, using pieces of 3 royal crowns, gold, pearls and precious stones.
