Rizvaniye Vakfi mosque, Urfa, Turkey
Rizvaniye Vakfi mosque and madrasa complex, built 1736 by Ridvan Ahmet Pasha, beside the Balikligol lake, at night, in Sanliurfa, or Urfa, the site of ancient Edessa, Turkey. Balikligol is also known as Ayn Zeliha Golu, or Pool of the Sacred Fish, which was formed, according to legend, by the tears of Zehida, daughter of Sumerian king Nimrod, after the prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) escape a furnace.
