Roman Byzantine coins, Luxor Museum, Egypt
Hoard of 690 gold coins, Roman Byzantine, excavated at Deir al-Abad in 1991-92, in the Luxor Museum, inaugurated 1975, in Luxor, Egypt. The coins are stamped with the emperor Heraclius to one side and on the other, a cross and letters CONOB, indicating a pure gold coin minted in the Byzantine state. Picture by Manuel Cohen
