Two of eight large paintings in transept, Santa Maria Degli Angeli e dei Martiri, Rome Italy. The Basilica was designed by Michelangelo (1475-1564) and built within the Roman Baths of Dicoletian, 296-306. Luigi Vanvitelli (1700-73) redesigned the transept area and introduced these paintings originally from St Peter's Basilica. Photograph by Manel Cohen
