Letters patent of Philippe IV le Bel, 1285-1314, dated July 1308, with wax seal, detailing sale of property confiscated from banished Jews, by commissioner Gerard de Cortona to the city consuls, from the collection of the Archives Municipales de la ville de Narbonne, Narbonne, Aude, Occitania, France. Jews from Baghdad were invited to settle in Narbonne by Pepin the Short in the 8th century, and a Jewish centre of learning was established in the city. Picture by Manuel Cohen
