Runic inscription of the name of the carver, Thorir, made by a Norsemen in the 12th century, and peck marks made by axes, on the south west wall of the main chamber of the tomb at Maeshowe, a Neolithic chambered cairn containing a monumental tomb, built c. 2800 BC, near Stenness on Mainland, Orkney, Scotland.
