Sacred tree, Gobekli Tepe, Sanliurfa, Turkey
Sacred tree for making wishes at the entrance to Gobekli Tepe, a settlement founded c. 9500 BC in the Pre-Pottery neolithic period, Sanliurfa, Turkey. The site was discovered in 1963 and excavated from 1995, unearthing large circular ritual structures with T-shaped pillars, houses, water supply and evidence of tool use.
